Raising sea cucumbers, putting "dichlorvos" in the whole box, raising sea cucumbers in the north and raising them in the south, and artificially gaining weight … The process of cultivating sea cucumbers is tricky!

At the CCTV 315 party last night, the chaos of raising sea cucumbers in Jimo, Shandong Province was exposed:

The whole box of dichlorvos was poured into the sea cucumber pond, the sea cucumber was cultured with raw powder of antibiotics and veterinary drugs, the malt paste was soaked for sea cucumber processing, and the southern sea cucumber was inferior to the northern sea cucumber … shocking!

1. Dichlorvos

Everyone should have heard of dichlorvos, a pesticide with moderate toxicity, which is often used to kill parasites in the cultivation of fruits and vegetables, and can be used in a limited range in China.

According to reports, about 2 kilograms of dichlorvos were used per mu of sea cucumber culture pond in this incident! How much dichlorvos farmers use depends entirely on their own subjective experience.

The long-term exposure of dichlorvos will be carcinogenic and neurotoxic, and the sewage discharged back into the sea will also cause secondary pollution to marine life and the environment …

2. Maltodextrin

According to the exposure, cooking sea cucumber with maltodextrin can increase the weight of sea cucumber. After this process, the materials used for sea cucumber can be reduced by one third.

However, according to national standards, only salt is allowed to be added in dry sea cucumber, and no other ingredients can be added. It is obviously illegal to use maltodextrin for weighing.

More importantly, maltodextrin is a product obtained by decomposing starch, which can quickly raise blood sugar. There have been cases in which diabetic patients ate sea cucumber and caused their blood sugar to rise. It is very likely that they ate too much sea cucumber with maltodextrin.

3. Is the quality of sea cucumber related to the place of origin?

It does matter. Generally speaking, the quality of northern sea cucumbers is better than that of southern sea cucumbers.

In the northern area, especially in the sea area near Bohai Bay, the water temperature is low, the sea water is deep, the growth speed of sea cucumber is slow, and there are many nutrients in the growth process, which makes the sea cucumber in the north generally have thick body walls, full flesh spines, less impurities in the body, higher nutritional value and more expensive.

Not to mention the irregularities in the cultivation of sea cucumber, as a frequent visitor to luxury banquets, the nutritional value and efficacy of sea cucumber itself are not as magical as rumors.

1. Is sea cucumber high in protein? Why not eat eggs?

Let’s first look at the ingredients of sea cucumber:

Every 100g of dry sea cucumber contains 50.2g of protein, 4.8g of fat, 4.5g of carbohydrate and 20g of minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium and selenium.

It seems that its protein content is really high, but its quality is not so good. The essential amino acids in its protein only account for 20% ~ 30% of the total amino acids.

How to judge the protein quality of food?

Little popularization of science

The quality of protein in food depends on the absorption rate of amino acids in protein. The more amino acids in food conform to the amino acid pattern of human body, the easier it is to be absorbed.

Eggs, fish, shrimp and meat are more complete in amino acids than sea cucumbers, especially eggs (the food that best conforms to the human amino acid pattern).

It is not as good as eating an egg a day to supplement protein by eating sea cucumbers. The protein ingested by the latter is far superior to sea cucumbers in quality and quantity, which can be described as good quality and low price.

2. Can eating sea cucumber fight cancer? The effect is not obvious.

The main medicinal component in sea cucumber is sea cucumber polysaccharide. Related experiments have proved that the refined polysaccharide extracted from sea cucumber has anticancer activity, and experiments have also proved that the polysaccharide compound extracted from sea cucumber has the effects of regulating blood lipid and lowering blood sugar.

It seems to be very powerful, but most of the research results are in vitro experiments, and there is no follow-up clinical trial. It is impossible to determine whether eating sea cucumber really has an effect on the human body.

Moreover, the contents of anticancer substances and hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic components in sea cucumber are very small, and the effect is not obvious.

The fact that sea cucumber contains anticancer components does not mean that it can prevent cancer and fight cancer after being eaten. It can be used as a nutritional supplement to improve the immunity of patients, and it is unnecessary to spend a high price for its so-called "health care effect".

Attachment: How to identify sea cucumber?

If you just like the taste of sea cucumber, here are some ways to teach you to identify sea cucumber:

(1) expensive doesn’t mean it’s definitely good, but it’s likely to have problems if it’s sold very cheaply, so buy it carefully;

2 Look at its "sucker". If it looks very obvious and refreshing, it may be normal growth and has not been soaked with maltodextrin.
