More than three months ago, the 21-year-old Zhengzhou flight attendant was killed by Didi Hitch, which is heartbreaking. Now, the 20-year-old woman in Yueqing, Wenzhou, Zhejiang has suffered the same accident for the same reason, which is regrettable. After the unfortunate loss of her young life, in addition to apologizing and expressing compensation, Didi finally announced that it would shut down the Hitch business nationwide from 0:00 on August 27, but the resulting passenger safety issues have aroused widespread concern in society.

"Legal Daily" reporter learned from Wenzhou Public Security Bureau today that at 4 am on August 25, the police arrested the alleged offender Zhong in Liushi Town and seized the vehicle with license plate number A31J0Z in Zhikou Village, Yongjia County at 9 am on the 25th. At present, the case is under further investigation. In view of the serious case, the procuratorial organs have intervened in the investigation and handling of the case in advance.

Victims’ families scold Didi for not making money

In order to participate in the college dormitory roommate’s birthday party, Zhao’s life is forever frozen framed on the mountain road leading to Yongjia in Yueqing.

According to a friend of Zhao’s, at 13:30 on August 24, Zhao sent a message in the WeChat group saying that he had gotten on the bus.

At 14:9, Zhao said in the WeChat group that he had entered an uninhabited mountainous area.

About five minutes later, she sent a "Help, help!" message.

The friend who received the message immediately dialed Zhao’s phone, but by this time the mobile phone had been turned off, and then the friends contacted her many times to no avail.

At 15:42, Zhao’s friend called the Didi platform to report. The Didi platform said that "relevant security experts will intervene and will reply within 1 hour."

During this one-hour waiting period, Zhao’s friends confirmed the progress of the matter to the Didi platform seven times, and Didi customer service kept replying "please be patient".

At 16:41, the friends did not dare to wait any longer and reported the case to Yongjia Shangtang Police Station. The police at the station communicated with Didi customer service, and after indicating the identity of the police, they hoped to learn more about the owner and vehicle of the hitchhiker that Zhao was riding. Didi customer service replied that security experts would intervene and asked to continue waiting for a reply.

At around 17:13, Didi customer service reported to the police that Zhao had cancelled the order at 14:10 after booking a ride at around 13:00 and did not get on the bus.

The police questioned whether they could cancel the order halfway through after getting on the bus, and again asked to know the driver’s contact number or license plate number for easy contact, but to no avail.

Around 20:00, Zhao’s friend received a reply from the Didi platform, saying that the driver’s license plate information had been provided to the police.

On Aug. 25, Didi executives and others went to the funeral home to apologize to the family, but the family questioned the company’s lax management. "You are a company, don’t patronize to make money, ignore the impact of society."

The driver of the crime was complained by the passenger before the incident

"I just saw this news, I got goosebumps all over my body, and I couldn’t stand up." Ms. Lin of Yueqing told reporters that she had taken the suspect’s car before the incident, from Yueqing Hongqiao to Wengyang, and the driver took him to a remote place to conspire. Ms. Lin then complained about the matter to the Didi platform, but as of the time of Zhao’s victimization, she had not received relevant feedback and handling results from the platform, and she was still cooperating with the police investigation.

"I called this ride on Hongxing Road in Hongqiao to go to Wengyang. At that time, the driver said that it would be a few minutes late, so he asked me to cancel the order and transfer the money to him using WeChat." Ms. Lin said that because she had been riding for several years, there were often such drivers, so she didn’t care.

Ms. Lin recalled the ride: After getting on the bus, the driver said he had to pick up another person, but the road became more and more remote. After asking the driver several times, he said it was almost there. I became a little suspicious. I asked him to call the other person who was going to take the car, and he hesitated and said that there was no need to call. When the car turned to a very remote road and found that there was no building in front of her, she thought there was a problem and asked the driver to stop immediately, otherwise he would jump out of the car. At this point, the driver was forced to stop and immediately turned off the engine to lock the door.

At the same time as the driver turned off the engine, Ms. Lin opened the door and ran, but the driver turned around and chased after me. Fortunately, several cars passed by on the road, and the driver followed me for a few hundred meters to let me get on the bus. After Ms. Lin said, "Follow me again, and I will call the police," the driver drove away.

Ms. Lin was careful and took a picture of the license plate. At present, Ms. Lin is cooperating with the Yueqing police investigation.

The police quickly solved the case and reported the case

After receiving the police, the Yueqing Public Security Bureau immediately launched a major case handling mechanism, and dispatched police forces such as criminal investigation, criminal technology, and relevant police stations to establish a task force to conduct an all-round search and investigation, and requested support from the Wenzhou Public Security Bureau.

In view of the fact that Zhong, a driver of Didi, is suspected of committing a major crime, the public security organs at the city and county levels immediately carried out control of the alleged offender. After the combined operation, the alleged offender Zhong was arrested in Liushi Town at 4 am on the 25th, and the alleged offender Zhong was seized at 9 am on the 25th. The vehicle with license plate number ChuanA31J0Z was seized in Zhikou Village, Yongjia County.

According to the alleged offender, at about 14:50 on August 24, when he took the victim to Yanglin Line Mountain Road in Danxi Town, he raped the victim Zhao and stabbed him in the neck with a dagger, causing massive bleeding. Then he threw the victim under the cliff outside the road guardrail and drove away from the scene. According to the preliminary forensic examination, the cause of death of Zhao was acute hemorrhage caused by rupture of the right neck artery.

Wenzhou police also issued an official notice, reminding the majority of Internet users not to spread rumors or believe rumors, and the public security organs will deal with those who maliciously create or spread rumors according to law.

After investigation, before 16:22 on the same day, Yongjia and Yueqing police did not receive any calls or calls to the police for the case. Regarding the online rumor that "relatives and friends immediately called the police after receiving the girl’s request for help, the police said that they did not have the license plate number and the driver’s phone number." After investigation by the public security organs, this situation did not exist. The police also said that the police had asked Didi customer service for information on the suspect and the vehicle three times, and they were rejected twice. After providing the police card, Didi provided relevant clues, which took a total of 92 minutes.

The reporter also interviewed citizens of Wenzhou to gain their views on the incident.

Asked about her impression of Didi, Wang, a post-90s female college student from Wenzhou, said: "The massacres in Zhengzhou and Yueqing are inevitable. On Weibo, there are often people who report that they have been harassed by Didi drivers. They all tell their experiences and attach photos. Didi has not responded to this."

Another interviewee, Xiaojin, a university student in Xiasha, Hangzhou, told reporters that "from the last time a flight attendant in Zhengzhou to a girl in Wenzhou was killed, I didn’t expect the danger to be so close to me, and I was completely disappointed with Didi. And this time the Didi platform may actually have stopped this tragedy, but it became a tragedy because of itself."
