Rumors are poisonous! China food rumor alliance broke down one by one
Xinhuanet Beijing, January 12th Recently, a WeChat WeChat official account published an article "Turn to the List of 17 Poisonous Foods Exposed by CCTV and David", which was widely spread on the Internet. It has been verified that the food safety information listed in the article is actually a rumor of malicious tampering or speculation about old news. This rumor is alarmist, creating rumors by means of PS, substituting flowers, pretending to be a fool, and making things out of nothing. The malicious spread has caused some public panic.
Rumor makers spread rumors on the internet through careful compilation and editing, which has caused great misleading to the public. Xinhuanet picked up some rumors and refuted them for the first time to set the record straight.
1. [Rumor] Lanzhou Lamian Noodles can’t be eaten? All Lanzhou ramen noodles are using ramen. The main ingredient of ramen is penghui, a chemical substance containing a large amount of carcinogen-arsenic. Now all Lanzhou Lamian Noodles use this preparation to make flour more elastic. If the putty is put into a paper cup, it will be oxidized, and if the ramen solution is poured on the smooth floor, it will be even more horrible.
[Rumor] This rumor appeared in 2013. At that time, the media had rumored that the traditional technology of Lanzhou beef noodles pays attention to "three times of water, three times of ash, and 9981 times of kneading". Among them, ash refers to Peng ash, which can make the pulled noodles smooth and yellow and strong. Later, the process was replaced by a ramen agent, which is to purify the ash and get rid of harmful substances. At present, the Lanzhou market uses the ramen agent developed by Lanzhou University, Jiaotong University and related enterprises, and has passed the relevant safety certification.
2, [rumor] Casserole porridge is also "added", which will cause cancer? There are three shady things about online casserole porridge: 1. Adding synthetic essence; 2 add red shrimp powder; 3 add dead shrimps and crabs. Almost every family must add spices, vanillin and ethyl maltol, if eaten in excess, liver and kidney will be damaged, which will seriously cause cancer!
[Rumor] It is understood that in order to improve the taste of porridge foods or keep them in a good viscous state, food producers and operators usually use thickeners in porridge foods. Thickener is a kind of food additive with high safety, such as xanthan gum, edible alkali and phosphate. Experts believe that as long as it is used according to the regulations, it will not cause harm to the human body, but it should follow the principle of reducing the usage as much as possible under the premise of achieving the expected effect.

3, [rumor] exposure! Pork mixed with mouse meat
[Rumor] In the meat bowl that appeared in the article, it was said that the restaurant used mouse meat. In fact, netizens mistook the game returned from their homes for the restaurant cooking with mouse meat.
4. [Proverbs] Egg yolk pie and durian crisp are junk food in junk food.
[Rumor] It is almost impossible to avoid eating trans fatty acids in daily life, because they are found in cattle and sheep products and dairy products. In 2013, the report "China Residents’ Dietary Intake Level of Trans Fatty Acids and Its Risk Assessment" released by the National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center showed that the average trans fatty acid consumption in Chinese was 0.39 grams per day, and the energy provided by trans fatty acids through dietary intake accounted for 0.16% of the total dietary energy, which was far lower than the recommended value of the World Health Organization (less than 1%). So as long as you control the intake of trans fatty acids, you don’t need to be too anxious.
Rumor link: trans fatty acid risk is exaggerated? Expert: Risk control should be treated scientifically.
5. [Proverbs] Don’t drink unified milk tea or other milk-containing beverages (unified milk tea, Assam milk tea, Earl milk tea, Yaha coffee). The so-called milk component is non-dairy creamer, with a low milk content, and the main component is hydrogenated vegetable oil.
[Rumor] The ingredient list of unified Assam milk tea does indicate that it contains hydrogenated vegetable oil, but it also indicates that it contains skim milk powder. There is no situation of deceiving consumers that milk is contained in products but other food additives are used as milk powder. The concern about hydrogenated vegetable oil and non-dairy creamer actually lies in the trans fatty acids contained in them. Xinhuanet has made a special rumor about this. Experts said that the energy supply ratio of trans fatty acids in China is low, and consumers do not need to talk about "acid" discoloration.

6, [rumor] net biography "The snake fruit is all wax when scraped, and it can be lit with a lighter!
[Rumor] In China, waxing is allowed on the surface of fruits. According to the Hygienic Standard for the Use of Food Additives, morpholine fatty acid salt (also known as fruit wax) and carnauba wax can be used as coating agents on the surface of fresh fruits. Fruit wax is a kind of chitosan substance, which is mostly extracted from crustaceans such as crabs and shells. This substance is harmless to the body after long-term consumption, and its function is mainly to keep fresh and prevent apples from rotting and deteriorating during long-distance transportation and long-term storage. If you are worried about health problems, you can peel apples and eat them. If you don’t want to peel them, you can rinse them with hot water at a suitable temperature to remove them.
7. [Proverbs] Drinking Coke every day = chronic suicide. Drinking Coke regularly on the Internet can cause hypokalemia in the body, showing some symptoms such as physical weakness, constipation and paralysis. People who drink 2 to 10 liters of cola every day will have symptoms of hypokalemia, which will lead to a series of diseases such as muscle disease, arrhythmia and paralysis.
[Rumor] Drink 2 to 10 liters of cola every day? How many people can drink such a "massive" coke every day? Moreover, rumors have seriously exaggerated the effect of cola on human body. Cola is a high-sugar beverage, and drinking it in large quantities is indeed harmful to certain people such as hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia, but it will not become the main murderer of "chronic suicide".
8. [Rumor] The squab eaten may be a mouse. A group of pictures and videos of "See how unscrupulous merchants turn mice into squab" went viral on Weibo. Many netizens expressed shock and disgust at this. "I dare not eat squab indiscriminately in the future." Even a few netizens who doubted the authenticity of the video said that "there is a psychological shadow."
[Rumor] According to local reporters’ investigation, the mice in this group of photos were originally edible. The dishes in the pictures were "pepper and pepper rats", which were artificially bred and used for food, instead of the street rats as rumored. Mountain hole mouse, the scientific name of bamboo mouse, also known as bamboo distillation, mang raccoon, bamboo raccoon, bamboo root mouse, winter hairy mouse, etc., belongs to the genus Bambusoideae, a mammal rodent. It is big and fleshy, delicious, nutritious, thick and soft, and has high economic value.
9. [Proverbs] Have you ever seen such an egg? Egg white, egg yolk and eggshell are all made of chemical raw materials, and there is no natural ingredient! Recently, some people in the night market food stalls in Zhengzhou are buying this kind of "pure artificial egg". Mr. Wang, who deals in food additives, found this kind of egg, and asked the stall owner to make it. When he went home to try it, he could really make it into a "pure artificial egg".
Weibo @ Jiangning Public Security Online, the official of Jiangning Branch of Nanjing Public Security Bureau, said that the video was a process of making toy eggs. Don’t worry about it. The media reporter found that this kind of toy egg can indeed be found on the Internet. The yellow label on it is exactly the same as that in the video. Fake egg, really not. The main thing is that eggshells can’t be made. Besides, eggs are so cheap, even if the shell-free fake egg can be made, the cost is much higher than that of real eggs.

10. [Proverbs] Cucumber coated with birth control pills will be sterilized after eating.
[Rumor] "Contraceptive cucumber" is purely a rumor. People often say that birth control pills are animal hormones, which have no effect on the growth and development of plant cucumbers and cannot be used on cucumbers. People are rumored to be birth control pills, probably because the plant growth regulator used on cucumber can promote the growth and development of cucumber and has the function of hormone, and birth control pills are also hormones. As a result, it was passed around, and finally it was spread that cucumbers used contraceptives.
Rumor link: "Contraceptive cucumber" is true? Expert: It is purely a rumor.
11. [Proverbs] Something happened to the fruit orange! Coca-Cola admits that its fruit oranges contain carbendazim, a pesticide banned in the United States. Experts say that carbendazim can cause brain paralysis and liver tumors.
[Rumor] In mid-January, 2012, Coca-Cola found carbendazim, a fungicide sprayed by Brazilian fruit farmers on fruit trees, and then reported it to the FDA of the US Food and Drug Administration. However, after the products were submitted for inspection by the United States and China respectively, the results showed that there was no problem. Carbendazim is allowed to be used in the EU and Brazil, the raw material of orange juice. The EU limits it to 200ppb, and the detected concentration is 35ppb, which is completely harmless to human body. The FDA finally concluded that "the detected carbendazim residue level is far below any standard that may pose a safety hazard, so consumers do not need to worry about orange juice products on the market."

[Short Comment] It is urgent to crack down on food rumors.
In 2018, food rumors are still banned repeatedly, which makes us deeply feel the importance of controlling rumors. Experts have long pointed out that food rumors are rampant, to a large extent, because rumors and rumourers use potential food safety risks to deliberately fabricate, steal concepts, and even deliberately discredit them, inducing consumers to have distrust of them, and some consumers often lack scientific judgment.
"Eye game" has become the biggest motivation in the spread of rumors. In order to pursue "100,000+",some online media, especially self-media, play the role of "infected people" and help rumors spread like "epidemic viruses". Rumors of food safety have seriously interfered with the normal food and drug supervision, disturbed people’s consumption judgment, damaged the development of the industry and affected China’s international reputation.
To control food rumors, we must make a heavy blow and promote the establishment of a long-term mechanism for social multi-subjects to jointly control rumors. China food and drug administration and the "China Food Rumor Alliance" have spared no effort to carry out rumors and control rumors. In 2017, the State Food and Drug Administration and 10 departments jointly issued the Notice on Strengthening the Prevention and Control of Food Safety Rumors, and at the same time actively released regulatory information on multiple platforms, and established a rumor database and a popular science network platform. Since last year, the General Administration has published 85 rumors, and the database has now included more than 30,000 rumors. In addition, the State Food and Drug Administration also cooperated with the public security and online information departments to carry out joint law enforcement and detain and punish the producers of food rumors.
Up to now, China Food Rumor Alliance has released more than 70 authoritative rumors, and published and forwarded 1,000 related food popular science information, which has made an important contribution to guiding the public out of the misunderstanding of food safety. At the same time, the alliance also calls for the establishment of a cooperative mechanism, and at the same time, we should continue to strengthen the punishment and accountability of those who make and spread rumors, especially to clarify the rules for judging rumors and the quantitative standards for harm, and further strengthen the crackdown on rumors related to food networks by laws and regulations such as the Criminal Law and the Food Safety Law, so as to provide a clear and harmonious network environment for China’s food industry and consumers.
